"We Are The Combat Vets"

We Came to visit you today, All of you on this Wall.
Because the only times we thought of you, were Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

Though your physically no longer here, in our hearts we hold you near.
You're the ones we'll never forget, we are The Combat Vets.

You gave your all and we gave some, we did it for our Flag.
To us those colors are our life, but to some it's just a rag.

No matter how many years will go by, we'll keep Old Glory flying high.
We served our Country with no regrets, because we are The Combat Vets.

Some will never understand, what those Stars and Stripes mean to us,
and why you gave your lives for it, without putting up a fuss.

We were there with some of you, Though most we never met,
as Brothers your blood runs through our veins, we are The Combat Vets.

We fought from Air, Land and Sea, you died so others could live Free.
Now your name is on this Wall, because you answered your Country's call.

As we read your names, Our eyes fill with tears,
It's still hard to believe, That it's been this many years.
But your memories no one ever forgets, because we're here, The Combat Vets.

Someday soon our souls will meet, We'll shake hands and hug as we greet,
You will know that you were never alone,
As we say those words, "Welcome Home"

Until that day we stand guard, if need be, we'll still fight hard.
We'll keep our Country Proud and Free, On that you can bet,
As we salute you, we're proud to say, we are The Combat Vets.
